PLACES AVAILABLE AT BATH-HALF-MARATHON TO SUPPORT LOCAL CHARITY, PURPLE ELEPHANT

Frome-based family support charity, Purple Elephant, is looking for at least ten runners to take part in next ‘The Bath Half’, to raise money for their amazing year-round, vital child and family services.

Whether you are a seasoned pavement-pounder, a weekend park-run participant or a complete beginner, Purple Elephant has charity paid-for places available for those willing to get supporters to sponsor them.  Naturally all runners in ‘Team Purple Elephant’ will get a goody bag at the finish line, social media support for their fundraising and training and, of course, a special limited edition Purple Elephant T-shirt declaring their allegiance to one of Frome’s favourite charities. Those already self-enrolled are also welcome to join the team, and will get the same support for their fundraising, plus, of course a goody bag and T-shirt too.

Having entered teams in both 2024 and 2025, the charity is keen to see if they can beat their previous totals, aiming for a target of £3,000 this time around, so they are calling out to anyone in the South West area to sign up and join them for the big day.

As Purple Elephant’s Sue Wills told us “It was so exciting to be there on the day last year and so special to know that these individuals put aside time in their incredibly busy lives to train for us. Our teams in the past have included parents of young children, police officers, an actor, school teachers, business owners, a leprechaun and, of course, an elephant.  If you’re into running or only just starting, now is the time to begin training – we love it when our runners send pictures and videos of themselves, often in the early mornings, jogging at sunrise. These people are amazing! ”

Willis goes on to explain “Our work is focused on Frome and area families facing disadvantage, and our services include early-years support, Befriending, Holiday Activities for families with additional needs, a Toy Library lending service, pre-school stay-and-play sessions and a neurodivergent-friendly Youth Club, so all the money raised is put to very good use.”
