Current Volunteer Vacancies
Are you interested in helping children and families to thrive? We are seeking those who share our vision for the following volunteer roles.
Youth Club volunteers: we’re starting a new youth club for 8 to 13 year olds in October 2024 and are looking for volunteers to support our team of youth workers. The club will meet weekly during term time on Thursdays from 4.30pm to 7.30pm (including setup and tidy up). Your role will be to help set up for each session, support the young people who attend and help tidy away at the end. We’re looking for adults with experience in working with young people as well as young volunteers who would like to go into youth work, who have a nurturing and non-judgemental approach.
Food @ 5 volunteers: We run a supervised play area at Fair Frome’s weekly Food @ 5 sessions, where people in need can access free meals and support. We’re looking for experienced, nurturing adult volunteers who can run our play area on Wednesdays from 4.30pm to 6.30pm. Your role will include setting up the play area, supervising kids as they play (their adults will remain responsible for them), signposting families to local support, and tidying up at the end of the session. Fair Frome staff/volunteers will be at each session and will have overall responsibility.
Befrienders (for adult-to-child Befriending service): This role is best fulfilled by those who have previous experience with children in social care, education or similar and who have a working knowledge of safeguarding. Ideally, previously DBS checked and able to offer a long-term, weekly commitment, training and expenses will be provided. Those with a professional background in support work are also encouraged to get in touch.
If you are interested in volunteering for these or any roles please contact Service Manager, Sue Willis, on suewillis@purpleelephant.org.
