What we do
Purple Elephant is a small charity based in Frome. We set up in 2015 and have been running projects for families ever since. Over the years we’ve changed our focus from community events to direct family support services. We now offer a range of services to support local families with children of all ages, from babies to teenagers, including of course, the fabulous Children’s Festival. All our services are available to families living in Frome or surrounding villages.
Our overall aims are to support social inclusion and integration, helping to develop a strong and supportive community. We believe that all children should have the same opportunities to learn, have fun and become the best they can be. We work closely with other organisations in Frome to reach the families who need our support most.
We focus on supporting families who are facing any kind of disadvantage, whether through low income, poor mental health, additional needs or disabilities, substance addiction or social isolation. We strive to make their lives a little easier and to bring some fun to their day.
Sponsors, partners and supporters
As a charity we rely on grant funding, sponsors and donations to deliver our services. We have a handful of kind sponsors and are always on the lookout for more! If you are a local business, please get in touch suewillis@purpleelephant.org.
If you are an individual or organisation who would like to donate, please click here. Any amount will be gratefully received and valuable to our work – a regular monthly donation is especially helpful as it allows us to plan our future services with more confidence.
If you are taking part in or setting up a sponsored activity (a cake bake, a jumble sale, a sponsored silence, running a half-marathon, jumping out of a plane!) and would like to nominate us as recipients then do let us know – get in touch so that we can support you with our social media and press releases.
Our main partners are Fair Frome – together we deliver our holiday activities – and Frome Town Council. We’re always open to new partnerships and collaborative working.
Volunteer with us
We have enjoyed the company of hard-working volunteers at all our activities, from young Duke of Edinburgh students shaping and delivering our events, to professionals for our Befriending Service, through to event-providers who join us with craft, sport, dance, drama, art, nature and other delights. If you feel you have something to offer, even just a few hours helping set up or clear away at our Festival, please get in touch.
Policies and Trustees Annual Report
The welfare of the families that we support is our prime concern and we have a raft of policies which ensure that their privacy and safety are maintained at all times. You can view our policies by opening the PDF documents below.
Our annual trustees report outlines what we have done over the year and includes our accounts.
