Bingo-lovers of Frome are in for treat as the autumn opens with a brand-new regular game, starting at The Key Centre, monthly, from Wednesday 20 th September. Set up, run and hosted by a local Frome family, and with proceeds going to Purple Elephant, the new charity-bingo sessions are designed to allow all age-groups to attend together, with eight bingo games, a HOY game and a flyer round.
Designed and run by local Frome resident, and bingo fan, Elizabeth Ayers, hosting these new family- fun sessions is all part of her wish to give something simple but joyous back to the local community. As Elizabeth explains “I’ve always wanted to run bingo for the local community and I’d also like to support a local charity, especially one that does so much for children. This seemed like the perfect way to combine a social community event, raise some money for Purple Elephant and show our family’s deep respect and gratitude for all the support we have received so kindly from local healthcare services.”
Key Centre coordinator, Sarah Walton, said, “It’s exciting to see the Key Centre grow as a welcoming, well-used community space since being taken on and owned by Frome Town Council in May 2025. It is fantastic to welcome new groups and faces, continuing to make this a place where people can come together, connect and feel part of the community.”
Founder of Purple Elephant, Sue Willis added, “We are so lucky to have people like Elizabeth in town. Fundraising events put on by the local community and by local businesses are part of our lifeline. Accessing funding is increasingly difficult for all charities, so the support, donations and money raised by such things as putting on a cake sale, sponsored bike rides, running a marathon, a school
‘mufti’; day or, indeed, setting up bingo sessions, mean we can carry on bringing joy.”
With locally-donated raffle prizes as well a cash bingo prize on the night, and with proceeds from the raffle and refreshments going to Purple Elephant to assist in running their year-round services to help families overcome their challenges, this is a truly local and fun way for families to take a low- key community evening out as the autumn nights draw in.
Doors open on the first session, at The Key Centre, Feltham Lane, Frome at 6.45pm, followed by eyes down at 7.30pm, on Wednesday 30 th September. Cash payments only. No need to book.
