Bath Half Marathon Places Available… but get your running shoes on, they go pretty fast!

Purple Elephant, Frome’s child and family support charity, has started the Spring early, and in energetic style, with a callout to runners, or, indeed, walkers, to step up to a 21.1km challenge and become part of their team of 10 sponsored participants taking part the iconic Bath Half Marathon, to raise funds for this much-loved and vital organisation, on Sunday 14th March 2027.

Whether you are a seasoned pavement-pounder, a weekend park-run participant or a complete beginner, Purple Elephant has a limited number of charity paid-for places available for those willing to get supporters to sponsor them.  Naturally all runners in Team Purple Elephant will get a goody bag at the finish line, social media support for their fundraising and training and a special limited edition Purple Elephant T-shirt declaring their allegiance to one of Frome’s favourite charities. Any runner already self-enrolled is also welcome to join the team and be part of the fundraising activity .

Having had teams raise over £2k in 2025 and then more than £3k in 2026, Purple Elephant Family Support is keen to see if it can beat last year’s total, aiming high for March 2027.  They are calling out to anyone in the South West, or beyond, to sign up now and join them for the big day.

As Purple Elephant founder Sue Wills told us “It is so special see people put aside time in their busy lives to train and run for us. Our teams in the past have included parents, police officers, actors, school teachers, business owners, a leprechaun and, of course, an elephant.  If you’re into running or if you’ve only just started, now is probably the ideal time to begin training.”

Willis goes on to explain “With grants getting harder to find all the time, and yet the needs of, and pressures upon, families increasing year on year, every single donation and charitable gift counts more than ever.  Our year-round, vital service include early-years support and intervention, adult-to-child specialist befriending, holiday activities, including for families with additional needs, pre-school stay-and-play sessions, a neurodivergent-friendly youth club and two ‘Tea and Toasties’ no pressure, chilled, afterschool drop-ins, complete with snacks, for young people aged 12 and over. All the money raised is put to very good use.”
