Current and Ongoing Volunteer Vacancies
Current Volunteer Vacancies: We are seeking those who share our vision, to help children and families to thrive joyfully.
Right now – we are seeking a Treasurer:
Having recently been awarded three-year £190k National Lottery funding, an experienced finance and planning mind is sought to work with the managers and trustees. Trusteeship position for the Treasurer is also welcomed (but not essential): please contact Service Manager, Sue Willis, on suewillis@purpleelephant.org.
Right now – we need Fundraising volunteers – We can’t get community fundraising off the ground without you – join us!
Occasional, short-term roles – open to adult or young people (with a mature attitude), do not require DBS check, experience or training. These ad-hoc, vital helpers are needed to support street collections, stalls at fetes and fairs and to assist at our own fundraising events, including supporting local people who are taking part in sponsored activities to raise fund for us.
Throughout the year, we regularly also look for:
Youth Club volunteers: for 8-13 year-olds, the club meets on Thursdays (term time); a once-weekly commitment is welcomed, but we are happy to accept applications from those who require more flexibility.
– The club is facilitated by a small team of professional Youth Workers. Covering 4.30pm to 7.30pm, working alongside the professionals, volunteers help set up/clear away at the start/end,
support, encourage and have fun with young people who attend.
– We’re seeking enthusiastic, adaptable, nurturing, non-judgemental and kind adults, ideally with existing experience of young people.
Holiday Activity volunteers: Low time-commitment, fun, with a choice of days, for enthusiastic, adaptable volunteers age 16+ (able to provide reference/character reference) at our energetic, creative and fun family school Holiday Activities.
– Most sessions require 9.30am-1.00pm or 1.30pm-4.00pm volunteer support, with a willingness to ‘muck in’ – from setting up tables, to washing up, playing low-key sports or helping with sticking, gluing and painting, as well as clearing up afterwards!
– A non-judgemental manner combined with a sensible attitude, a fun nature and a sense of joy are vital at these sessions.
– Any age adults are encouraged, and we welcome younger volunteers in their teens too.
Befrienders (for adult-to-child Befriending service): This specialised role is best fulfilled by those who have previous experience with children in social care, education or similar and who have a working knowledge of safeguarding. Ideally, already DBS checked and able to offer a long-term, weekly commitment, training and expenses will be provided. Those with a professional background in support work are also encouraged to get in touch.
Each summer we seek: short hours, one-day-only volunteers – for our Children’s Festival.
Once a year we run a free, one-day, multi-activity family festival in central Frome, mainly outdoors.
Be part of the fun on a Sunday in July, by volunteering for any/all of the following:
- early morning: strong, energetic volunteers to set up tables, chairs, gazebos, etc.
- early morning: creative-loving types to hang bunting, fly flags and dress the site
- day-event hours: cheery, enthusiastic ‘stewards’, offering friendly directions to families
- day-event hours: mature, happy people willing to help manage the queues to some activities
- late afternoon: tidy-up and clear-away team; from litter-picking, to de-bunting to table-carrying
If you are interested in volunteering for these or any roles please contact Service Manager, Sue Willis, on suewillis@purpleelephant.org.
